We record the IP address of everyone who uses this web site. This is to detect and mitigate abuse, i.e. to remove users who abuse the service. We also collect anonymous statistics on web browser software so that we can maintain the web site and ensure compatibility with the majority of browsers used to access the site.
If you create an account, we will store your email address, chosen name, a salted hash of your password and your communication preferences. This is the minimum amount of information about you that we need to provide the service. Your data will be stored in the UK, and will not be sold, shared or exported unless we are legally compelled to do so, e.g. by a court order or other lawful instrument. We will never contact you unless you have asked us to.
Information about furmeets that you share with other users through the service will be treated as public information that you have tacitly agreed to share. You may not use the service to share personal information about others, living or dead.
We will retain your personal information for no longer than is necessary to provide access to this service. You can delete your account at any time. We will aim to remove your information from our database within three months of your request, unless there is a legitimate reason for us to keep it for longer such as investigating abuse of the service.
We will not send you marketing, or sell your details to third parties for the purposes of marketing.
